About us

The Department of Computer Science was founded on January 1, 1992 under the initiative of a group of professors from the Department of Mathematics "Guido Castelnuovo". These founding members had diverse academic backgrounds (Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics) and created the first center in the Rome area dedicated to research on the foundations and applications of computer science, characterized by the predominant use of the scientific methods typical of the mathematical and physical sciences.

Today, the Department of Computer Science serves as a key reference point for young people seeking a strong theoretical and experimental foundation to actively participate in the ongoing evolution of the Information and Communication Technology sector.

The Department, currently headed by Enrico Tronci, is internationally recognized for its contributions to many of the most prominent research areas in Computer Science.

The main offices of the Department of Computer Science are located at Viale Regina Elena, 295 and Via Salaria, 113. Teaching activities in which the Department is involved also take place, in part, at the University Campus (Città Universitaria) and in the laboratories on Via Tiburtina.

This website provides comprehensive information on the research and teaching activities carried out by the Department’s faculty and staff.
