About the Seminars
These seminars are designed to familiarize early-career researchers with research writing and publication in computer science and engineering. While they are intended primarily for early-stage doctoral students who are new to scientific publishing, they are also valuable for doctoral students at more advanced stages, as well as postdoctoral researchers wishing to strengthen their publication skills
The seminar series aims to provide practical guidance on writing research papers and navigating the publication process in today’s highly competitive scientific environment. It covers key aspects of the publication cycle, including the foundations of scientific publishing, paper structure and content, the writing process, and the submission, peer review, and publication processes.
Schedule & Attendance
The series consists of five seminars, for a total of 12 hours. The seminars will be delivered in English and will be held in person, except for the final seminar, which will take place online. The in-person seminars will be held in lecture room G0, building G, viale Regina Elena 295, according to the following schedule:
Seminar 1: 08/06/26, 10:00 - 12:30
Seminar 2: 08/06/26, 14:30 - 17:00
Seminar 3: 09/06/26, 10:00 - 12:30
Seminar 4: 09/06/26, 14:30 - 17:00
Regular participation is important to ensure continuity across the sessions and to enable participants to benefit fully from the seminar series. For this reason, attendance of at least 80% is required in order to obtain the attendance certificate and to take the optional assessment.
Participants who are undertaking their required period abroad during the seminars, as well as PNRR students working in a company, may participate synchronously online. No recordings will be made available. Please provide the relevant information during enrollment.
Optional Assessment
Participants who wish to take the assessment will be asked, in addition to meeting the attendance requirement, to put some of the advice from the seminars into practice by contributing to the drafting of a short research paper and by taking part in its peer review process. This activity will be carried out interactively with the speaker. The deadlines for submission, peer review, and rebuttal will be announced in due course
Failure to meet the announced deadlines will result in a failing grade for the assessment.
