Biografia di Finocchi, Irene

Irene Finocchi obtained her degree in Computer Science (1997) and her Ph.D. in “Informatica” (2002) from the “Sapienza” University of Rome.

Subsequently, in receipt of a research grant, she worked at the 2nd University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. In 2005 she joined the “Dipartimento di Informatica” of the “Sapienza” University of Rome, where she is currently an Associate Professor.

During the course of her academic career she has visited, and held seminars at, many foreign universities and research centers, among which AT&T Research Laboratories, IT University of Copenhagen, Institute of Mathematical Sciences, and Microsoft Research (Silicon Valley).

Irene Finocchi’s research interests are focused on the development and analysis (both theoretical and experimental) of combinatorial algorithms and data structures, and her findings have been published in prestigious journals and conferences in this field. As well as frequently acting as a referee, she also serves on the program committes of international conferences (including ALENEX'06, ESA'07, WEA'08, ICALP'09), and has been Program Co-chair of the 11th Workshop on Algorithm Engineering and Experiments (ALENEX'09). She has been involved in the organisation of various international scientific events, among which the 45th IEEE Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS'04).
