Title: Challenges and opportunities in large-scale distributed systems design

Abstract: Supercomputers and data centers have a tangible impact on our everyday life. Although with some differences, these systems are both composed of tens of thousands of compute nodes interconnected through dedicated high-performance networks. Designing such systems to be performant and scalable poses significant challenges at different levels, ranging from the hardware to the runtime, to the system software. This talk discusses different ways to address some of these challenges, with a focus on those related to the interconnection network.
