"I met Francesco for the first time when I was still a student. I learned a lot from him as a mentor and a person, whether it be a paper, a personal difficulty, or the organization of the Tarquinia WADT meeting: the most important learned lessons were those he did not tell. A few months ago, he contacted me to say that the evening before, after a long day, he had a beer in one of the glasses I gave him as a present 30 years before coming back from Germany; it was in a way his farewell.
