Title: Computer Vision and Beyond

Abstract: Computer Vision is the branch of Computer Science that tries to emulate the human visual system, allowing a machine to perform the automatic analysis of videos and images. This is achieved by exploiting algorithms of image processing and Machine/Deep Learning. For example, considering the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (commonly named drones), it is possible to develop Computer Vision algorithms for the automatic analysis and understanding of an area of interest. If we consider the entire human brain instead of the merely visual system, Computer Vision can both support existing research topics (e.g., artificial neural network) and open new ones. As an example, it is possible to take advantage of Computer Vision algorithms in conjunction with electric brain signals (i.e., EEG) to perform tasks such as computer security, re-identification of people, rehabilitation, augmented reality and others.

In this presentation, it will be outlined how modern Computer Vision and Machine / Deep Learning techniques allow you to automatically analyze the data mentioned above.
