Prof. Alessandro Panconesi is the recipient of the 2019 Edsger W. Dijkstra Prize in Distributed Computing. The prestigious prize is awarded for outstanding papers on the principles of distributed computing, whose significance and impact on the theory or practice of distributed computing have been evident for at least a decade.
The award was given jointly to proff. Alessandro Panconesi and Aravind Srinivasan, of the University of Maryland, for their paper “Randomized Distributed Edge Coloring via an Extension of the Chernoff-Hoeffding Bounds.” Congratulations!
