EUROCRYPT 2026 and ESORICS 2026 in Rome: Dipartimento di Informatica at the forefront of international research

In 2026, Rome will host two of the most prestigious international scientific conferences in the fields of cybersecurity and cryptography: EUROCRYPT 2026 and ESORICS 2026. This achievement confirms Dipartimento di Informatica’s growing role as a international hub for research in cybersecurity, and advanced cryptography.

10–14 maggio 2026 (just ended) From May 10 to 14, 2026, Rome hosted EUROCRYPT, one of the world’s most important conferences dedicated to cryptography and information security, organized by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). The event brote together researchers, universities, research centers, and technology companies from around the world to discuss the main challenges and innovations in the field of digital security, including: 
post-quantum cryptography 
privacy and data protection 
zero-knowledge proofs 
blockchain 
digital infrastructure security 
next-generation cryptographic protocols 
The main conference sessions took place at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, in the Sala Sinopoli, chosen to accommodate the large number of international participants expected. Numerous workshops and affiliated events were hold on the campus of Sapienza University of Rome.

From September 14 to 18, 2026, Rome will host the 31st edition of ESORICS, the long-standing European conference dedicated to cybersecurity. The 2026 edition will be hosted by Sapienza University of Rome, underscoring the university’s central role in international cybersecurity research. 
With over seven centuries of history and one of Europe’s largest scientific communities, Sapienza Università di Roma is consolidating its presence in the strategic sectors of digital security, and cryptography, thanks to the research activities of the Dipartimento di Informatica.

An increasingly central role in international research. Hosting two such high-profile scientific events confirms Sapienza University of Rome as a European hub for technological innovation and advanced research and strengthens the Dipartimento di Informatica’s international standing in the fields of future digital security.
