In the context of the European summit in Riga 2015 the prize META 2015 was awarded.
This year the award went to BabelNet, the tool developed by the research group of Professor Roberto Navigli, for “groundbreaking work in overcoming language barriers through [the] use of heterogeneous data sources.” BabelNet thus joins other milestones of NLP such as Moses, which is the basis for products like Google Translate.
META is a "Network of Excellence" of 60 research centers in 34 countries whose mission is “to building the technological foundations of a multilingual European information society.”
